One month after assuming office as the Chairman of Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, Area, Hon. Prince Abdullahi Momodu has begun to leave his mark through a number of people-oriented initiatives aimed at improving the environment, completing abandoned or ongoing projects and enhancing the welfare of workers.

Since his inauguration on Friday, September 4, 2026, the Chairman has demonstrated a commitment to addressing some of the immediate challenges confronting the local government, with attention to both the physical environment and the welfare of staff.

One of the first visible interventions of the new administration was the cleaning of the overgrown weeds within the premises of the Esan Central Local Government Secretariat, Irrua.

The exercise has significantly improved the appearance of the council premises, creating a cleaner and more conducive environment for staff and visitors.

Hon. Prince Momodu's administration, also moved swiftly to address the accumulation of refuse at the Eguare, and Idumu-Eguare Market in Irrua.

The evacuation of the heaps of refuse from the two major markets has not only improved the sanitary condition of the markets but has also demonstrated the Chairman's determination to promote a cleaner and healthier environment across Esan Central.

In the area of infrastructure, the Momodu administration has also completed the Headmaster's Lodge at Ibhiolulu, Uwessan, providing improved accommodation facilities for the head of the school.

Beyond physical projects, the Chairman has placed considerable emphasis on staff welfare.

For example, the administration recently paid a backlog of three months' salary arrears owed to casual workers of the local government, providing relief to the affected workers and their families.

In another demonstration of concern for the welfare of members of staff, Hon. Prince Momodu also offered financial assistance to Mr. Francis Ehinor, a staff member of the local government, who was hospitalised at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, ISTH.

These interventions, though coming within the first month of Prince Momodu's administration, have provided an indication of the direction of the new leadership of Esan Central Local Government area.

For Hon. Prince Abdullahi Momodu, the first month in office has been characterised by attention to sanitation, infrastructure and staff welfare, with the administration focusing on initiatives that directly affect the people and workers of the local government.

In an exclusive chat with Winning Media, Hon. Prince Abdullahi Momodu, said; "...my administration will be a responsive and responsible one to the yearnings of our people".

"... from time to time, I will be giving my people feedbacks on, not only what we are doing, but also what we have in the pipeline to do, and they will also have the opportunity to tell us their concerns and  challenges". He said.

With several more months ahead, residents of Esan Central will be watching with interest and satisfaction, as the Chairman builds on these early initiatives and pursues his administration's broader development agenda.

Indeed, one month in office, Hon. Prince Abdullahi Momodu has a good story to tell.
