Contrary to the insinuations of some people, that the kidnap suspects arrested around Ewu, in Esan Central Local Government Area, Edo state, on Sunday the 25th of January 2026 will be released by the police after a while in their custody, the Edo Central Coordinator of Edo state Security Corps, Hon. Aidamebor Joel, said the suspects will be seriously dealt with according to the law, adding that, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo State, who has zero tolerance for kidnappings and other related crimes in Edo state, is fully aware of the issue and that he is surely interested in it.
Hon. Aidamebor Joel, aka MINDCAST, made this revelation today, Monday 26th January 2026, while speaking with Winning Media. He said; "...the kidnappers are eight in number. Five of them were apprehended, and their victims, a man and his wife, were rescued from them. The three other kidnappers are currently on the run, and they are armed with AK-47 assault rifles".
"For some people that are insinuating that the arrested suspects will be released after spending some time in police custody, I want to assure them that, this is a very different situation, especially bearing in mind that, in recent time, Edo state has suffered untold pains from the hands of these criminal elements. Their informants, and sponsors will not be spared".
"Governor Monday Okpebholo, who is always working round the clock to ensure that Edo state is safe for everyone, is definitely interested in this issue. Now, by this achievement, we are sending a clear message to them, that, it is no longer business as usual for them".
The rescue efforts of the couple, and the subsequent arrest of the two suspects, was a joint effort of the Edo Security Corps, and the Nigeria Police Force, Ewu Division".
Also, the Esan Central Coordinator of the Security Corps, Mr. Christopher Inegbedion, revealed that, the operatives pursued the kidnappers from Usodo Community, in Ewu, all through the night, all the way to Agbede Forest where five of them were caught.
It will be recalled that, just last week, the Edo Central Coordinator of Edo State Security Corps, Hon. Aidamebor, while addressing the Operatives in Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area Secretariat, Irrua, made it clear that, it will no longer be business as usual for the Security Corps Operatives, saying those that are not ready for serious work, should submit their uniforms.
