...ECLG Boss Urges Residents to Comply

Following the directive of Hon. Prince Abdullahi Momodu, the Chairman, Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area,, Edo state, the Environmental and Sanitation Department of Esan Central Local Government Area, Edo State, led by the Head of the Department,, Sanitarian Akhere Egbele, has embarked on a publicity and sensitisation tour across the Local Government Area ahead of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 26th September 2026.

The exercise, which is held every last Saturday of the month, is aimed at promoting a clean, healthy and environmentally friendly atmosphere across communities in Esan Central.


During the publicity tour, officials of the Environmental Sanitation Department visited various locations within the Local Government Area, including Irrua, Ewu, Udomi,....  informing residents about the exercise and urging them to comply with the sanitation directives.

The campaign also stressed the importance of individual and collective responsibility in keeping homes, business premises, markets, streets and other public spaces clean.


The Local Government Chairman, who was unavoidably absent, as he is currently attending a national conference of All Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Chairmen, in Abuja, was represented by the Vice Chairman of the local government, Hon. Engr. Health Izokpu, and the Secretary to the local government, SLG, Hon. Theophilus Oseigba, while encouraging residents to actively participate in the exercise, called on the people of Esan Central to see environmental sanitation as a shared responsibility and to support the administration's efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment.


Residents were therefore urged to make the necessary arrangements to participate fully in the exercise and to cooperate with environmental sanitation officials during the period.


In a phone chat with the Chairman, Hon. Prince Abdullahi Momodu, he reaffirmed its commitment to promoting environmental cleanliness and improving the general wellbeing of residents across Esan Central Local Government Area.


It can be recalled that, in the past one week, the Environmental and Sanitation Department of the local government, has been embarking on the clearing and fumigation of the local government secretariat premises to make it convenient for staff and visitors.
