Although the Onojie, HRH Zaiki Ehijie I, was unavoidably absent to personally receive the Chairman and his entourage, his Palace Chiefs conveyed a number of messages and requests from the monarch to the Local Government Chairman.

Among the requests was a call for the Council to consider assisting Opoji youths with employment opportunities whenever vacancies or other employment opportunities become available within the Local Government.

The monarch also appealed for the construction and rehabilitation of link roads connecting Opoji with neighbouring communities, including Okhagbo, Ujosalen and others, noting the importance of such roads to the movement of people and goods and the overall development of the communities.

Another major concern raised, was the need to strengthen security around public schools in Opoji, to protect school facilities and equipment from vandals.

The Onojie further drew the Chairman's attention to the poor condition of stalls at Opoji Market, describing the situation as requiring serious and immediate attention.

Responding to the concerns, Chairman Momodu assured the Onojie and the people of Opoji that the Council would do its best to address the issues within the resources available to it.

He said his administration remain committed to listening to the concerns of communities across Esan Central and taking practical steps towards improving infrastructure and the general welfare of the people.

Following the courtesy visit, the Chairman and his team proceeded to Opoji Market, where he conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the facilities and the condition of the market stalls.

The inspection provided the Chairman with an opportunity to personally assess the challenges confronting traders and the state of the market infrastructure, with a view to determining areas requiring Council's intervention.

The visit, including the Chairman's visit to other monarchs in Esan Central Local Government Area, further underscored the administration's engagement with traditional institutions and communities in identifying local challenges and exploring practical solutions within available resources.

Also in the entourage of the Chairman, are the Vice Chairman, Hon. Engr. Health Izokpu, the Secretary to the local government, Hon. Theophilus Oseigba, the Special Adviser to the local government, Hon.  Jude Ohue, the Head of Local Government Administration, HoLGA, Mrs. Doris Oronsaye, amongst others.
