... Esan Central LG Chair warns

By: Our Correspondent

Today, Monday August 3rd 2026, the Chairman, Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area, Edo state, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Ainiyalenhimi Iyere, again warned all indigenes and residents of Esan Central Local Government Area, that they should desist from using Eguare Market, Irrua, as a site for dumping refuse.

He sounded this warning today, when he led the staff of the Environmental and Health department of the local government area, to evacuate the refuse dumped at the Eguare Market area, that some people have erroneously turned to a dump site.

Speaking after the clean up of the area Rt. Hon. Iyere said; "... Some people have erroneously turned this location to a dump site we have taken it upon ourselves to ensure that we clean up the place from time to time, and I have always warned that, this is unacceptable"

"..this time, we are going to be more proactive  in ensuring that this place is not permanently turned to a dump site"

"...I thank governor Monday Okpebholo for providing the local government with these Earth moving equipment otherwise we would have been spending more than we are spending now, like we have been doing in time past, to clear the refuse".

Also, commenting on the cleaning exercise, the Head of Department, HoD, Environment, of Esan Central Local Government Area, Sanitarian Christiana Akhere Egbele, said; "...the evacuation of the refuse is a monthly exercise, on environmental sanitation days. The delay this time around, is as a result of the heavy downpour during the last monthly sanitation exercise, which could incapacitate the equipment if any attempt was made to evacuate the refuse".

Members of the environmental and Health department of Esan central local government area, present with the Chairman, include Sanitarian Christiana Akhere Egbele, Sanitarian Eraga Gloria, Sanitarian Osagie Efomon and Sanitarian Sani Eboi Grace. Others include, Mr. Joel Ijie, Mr. Matthew Okodute and Mr. Oyabure  Kingsley Confidence.
