EDO STATE AT 35, EDO TMB Salutes Edo People: Re affirms commitment to quality traditional medicine practice.

Edo State, created on the 27th of August 1991 by  the military Administration of President Ibrahim Babangida, clocks 35 years on the 27th August this year.

Since the creation 35 years ago, Edo State has witnessed series of transformation engineered by different Administrations.

The state which is gate way to the East, West and Northern parts of the country, is homogeneously endowed with human and natural resources for her shared prosperity. 

Chairman, Edo State Traditional Medicines Board, TMB, High Chief Dr. Abudu Godwin Ugbesia, JP, expressed satisfaction over the prevailing peace and tranquility in the state since it's creation attributing it to the tremendous efforts of Governor Monday Okpebholo in promoting Good Governance and the peaceful disposition of traditional rulers, religious leaders, and cultural affinity of Edo people.

Chief Ugbesia said; "...the present Administration of Senator Monday Okpebholo has reset, redesign and resuscitate the development of Edo State trajectory with sincerity of purpose, inclusitivity, prudent management of resources and accountability".

"what the state has garnered under the watch of Senator Monday Okpebholo, is unparalleled with visible projets imparting positively on the lives of Edo people".

The Chairman particularly commended the Governor for his unrelented war against cultism, kidnapping and other forms of criminality which in the past, painted the image of the state in bad light.

Chief Ugbesia said the Governor has injected fresh ideas in rejuvenating all sectors of the state Economy, with particular reference to the health sector,where 34 primary Health care centres renovated, employment of professionals and integration of traditional medicine practitioners into health care delivery system.

According to Chief Ugbesia; "...traditional medicine practitioners were relegated to the background by previous administrations, but with the coming on board of Senator Monday Okpebholo led Administration, things took dramatic change as the first ever Botanical Garden has been cultivated on one hectare of land given to the Board from the state government's forest reserve in Uhuwonmde Local Government Area".

The Board, under Chief Ugbesia is experiencing uncommon transformation, and sanity through renewed passion, zeal and enthusiasm with the backing of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

The Chairman, Edo State Traditional Medicines Board, who lauded the harmonious relationship between Edo State Government and traditional institutions, religious leaders under the watch of Senator Monday Okpebholo, also said; "this is instrumental to the peaceful coexistence amongst ethnic groups in the state".


Finally, Chief Ugbesia prayed God and the ancestors to sustain the peace, tranquillity and on going transformation of Edo State to an eldorado.
