Accord Party 2027 Presidential Candidate Steps Down...
...gives Reasons for decision

A one-time Presidential Candidate, Accord Party, Professor Christopher Imumolen, who also emerged as the candidate for the Party in next year, 2027, Presidential election, has stepped down from contesting for the election, after giving reasons for the decision.
The above development is contained in a Press release by Professor Christopher Imumolen, dated 2nd August 2026, made available to Winning Media.
The statement reads in part;
"Following my emergence as the Presidential candidate of the Accord Party during the duly conducted Presidential primaries, I, in consultation with the leadership of the party, made the patriotic decision to withdraw from the Presidential race and fully support the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in the 2027 Presidential Election".
"This decision was not borne out of personal interest but from a deep conviction that the unity, stability, and continued progress of Nigeria must take precedence over personal political ambition".
Giving reasons for the decision, Professor Imumolen stated that he shares same vision with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as
President Tinubu's reform agenda and policies closely align with the core objectives of his manifesto, particularly in the areas of economic transformation, education, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, industrialisation, and national development.
That, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has exceptional leadership capacity; saying the President's resilience and ability to navigate Nigeria's complex political and economic landscape demonstrates uncommon courage, determination, and strategic leadership worthy of emulation.
That, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has an unmatched political sagacity, that, In Nigeria's democratic history, President Tinubu has consistently displayed extraordinary political wisdom, foresight, and nation-building capacity that have produced transformational leaders across the country.
That, President Tinubu is committed to Progressive Governance, saying, the President's commitment to sustaining progressive governance through purposeful leadership, institutional reforms, and continuity provides confidence in Nigeria's long-term growth and stability.
That President Tinubu's ability to discover and empower talents is topnotch, as President Tinubu has shown remarkable ability to identify capable individuals, build consensus, promote national unity, and make difficult decisions in the best interest of the nation.
That President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a "Bridge Between Generations", is uniquely positioned to provide a seamless transition between the founding generation of Nigeria's democratic leadership and the emerging generation of transformational leaders.
Professor Imumolen also noted that, despite current economic challenges being experienced in the country, he remain convinced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's determination, policy direction, fiscal discipline, and decisive leadership will reposition Nigeria's economy for sustainable prosperity. In view of this, under the leadership of President Tinubu, he is confident in Nigeria's Economic Recovery.
That, President Tinubu's willingness to engage and collaborate with progressive minded Nigerians across political parties reflects the President's true statesmanship and a genuine commitment to national development above partisan interests.
Also, Professor Imumolen stated that, he stepped down to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for 'Stability, Continuity and National Development', saying; "at this critical stage of our nation's development, continuity in governance, policy consistency, political stability, and sustained reforms are essential for attracting investment, creating jobs, strengthening institutions, and building a prosperous Nigeria for future generations".
Finally, Professor Imumolen, in the statement, pointed out that, he is putting Nigeria above personal interest saying; "My aspiration has always been to serve Nigeria and not merely to occupy public office".
"...whenever the national interest is better served through unity and strategic collaboration, I will always choose Nigeria above personal political ambition".
"Today, I therefore declare my total support for the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in the 2027 Presidential Election. I equally call on members of the Accord Party, my supporters across Nigeria, the youth, professionals, and all patriotic Nigerians to join hands in supporting this national project".
The statement concluded by saying; "Our decision to withdraw our presidential candidature and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a deliberate sacrifice made in the interest of Nigeria. History will always remember those who placed national progress above personal ambition".
In view of the above developments, a Press Conference is scheduled to hold on Friday, 7th August 2026, at Nos. 2 Amara-Olu Street off Lateef Jakande Road AGIDIMGBI ikeja Lagos, by 1pm.
Professor Christopher Imumolen, a completely detribalised Nigerian, with extensive professional background in plant Engineering, Oil and Gas safety, and technical consultation, was the Presidential candidate for the Accord Party in the 2023 Presidential election.
