Esan Central LG Chairman Presents 2026 Budget Of Transformation

Today, Thursday 12 March 2026, the Chairman, Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area of Edo state, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Ainiyalahimi Iyere, presented the 2026 Budget Christened the Budget of Transformation. 

Presenting the Budget to the Legislative Arm of the local government, the Chairman assured that, the budget is crafted with the vision of enhancing the quality of life for the people in the local government, and also for promoting sustainable development in the communities, saying; “…This is yet another opportunity to render the account of my stewardship on the extent to which our administration has been able to actualize the 2025 Budget Estimate”.


Continuing, the Chairman said; ”This year Budget is Christened BUDGET OF “TRANSFORMATION”. It is in line with this bold objective of ours; coupled with the wind of positive change which is being pursued by our great party the APC that Esan Central Local Government Area Draft Estimate for 2026 is christened”. 

The Chairman announced that, Esan Central Local Government Area has proposed a Budget sum of Ten Billion, Four Hundred and Eighty Eight Million, Six Hundred and Fifty Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirteen Naira, Fifty Seven kobo (N10,488,657,513.57) only, and in arriving at this figure, full cognizance of the expected revenue from the Federation Account was considered. 


The main components of the Budget include:                                             Recurrent Expenditure, totalling   7,627,657,513.57, that makes 72.72% and

Capital Expenditure of   2,861,000,000.00 that makes 27,28%.

In summary, the sum of Seven Billion, Six Hundred and Twenty-Seven Million, Six Hundred and Fifty Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirteen Naira, Fifty Seven Kobo (N7,627,657,513.57) only representing 72.72% of the Budget is voted for Recurrent expenditure, which covers staff and political office holders salaries and overhead cost. 

Capital Expenditure got Two Billion, Eight Hundred and Sixty One Million Naira (N2,861,000,000.00) only, which will allow for the execution of capital projects across the entire Local Governments Area.


The Economic Sector of the Capital expenditure, has a sum of Two Billion, Five Hundred and Eighty Nine Million (N2,589,000,000.00) only representing 24.68% of the total budget, which the Local Government will invest in Agriculture, in training farmers on modern farming techniques which will enhance food production and security in the Local Government Area and also increase the internally generated revenue profile of the Local Government council, even as this sub sector is expected to provide for the execution of various projects across the various communities and wards.


For the Social Sector, a total sum of Two Hundred and Seventeen Million Naira (N217,000,000.00) only representing 2.07% of the budget is allocated to this sector and would be expended on the provision of durable chairs and desks, exercise books and other educational material that would enhance the education of our children in public Primary Schools in the Local Government Area. 


The Chairman also pointed out that, his administration will pay attention to regular monthly environmental sanitation exercise, evacuation of refuse, desilting of blocked drains and dressing of the Local Government dump sites.


The Law and Justice Sector, got the sum of N5,000,000.00 Five Million Naira only representing 0.05% of the budget, which is expected to address all the litigation cases within the Local Government in the fiscal year.


Administrative Sector got an allocation of  N50,000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira) only representing 0.48% of the budget allocated to capital based sector. Saying; “during the fiscal year, emphasis would be placed on maintenance of the various offices, provision of adequate office accommodation, working equipment/tools such as computers, air conditioners furniture…to boost the morale of workers and enhance their efficiency even as new vehicles would be provided while the old ones will always have regular maintenance.

Concluding, the Chairman, who respectfully urged the Honourable House to give the Budget proposal thorough and speedy consideration for approval, to enable early implementation for the benefit of the people, expressed satisfaction on the total support commitment and good counsel he received from Legislative council that has led to the success of his administration since inception. He implored them to sustain the good gesture.

Responding to the Chairman's Budget Presentation, the Leader of the Legislative Council of the Local Government, Hon. Famous Ebanehita who on behalf of the Legislative Arm of the Council, pledged to work hand in hand with the Executive Arm, to ensure the 2026 Budget of Transformation serve the best interest of the people of the local government, also expressed great pleasure and sense of duty in welcoming the Chairman and and his entourage to what he described as "a crucial session of the Legislative Arm of the local government area", even as he described the presentation of the 2026 Budget estimate, as the most important function of democracy.

The Leader of Esan Central Legislative Arm, maintained that, the "2026 Budget of Transformation", represents a roadmap for economic recovery, stability and growth. Saying; "we owe this as a Fiduciary to our people".


Present at the Budget presentation, include; the Leader, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of the local government, Prince Willy Shaka Momodu, the Chairman, Esan Central Local Government All Progressives Congress, Hon. Rawlins Ekeoba, the Secretary to the local government council, Hon. Pastor Davies Oigbochie the Head of Local Government Administration, HoLGA, Barr. Edoigiawerie Gladys, the Director of Administration and General Services, DAGS, Mrs. Ogun Rita O, Head of Procurement, Mr. Gaius Obiyan, Head of Legal Department, Barr. Ehizoyanyan, Head of Information, Mrs. Oigbochie and a host of others.
