ECTS Is Committed To Opening Up Rural Areas

The Chairman, Board of Directors, of  Edo City Transport Services, ECTS, Hon. Chief Robert Okoinemen, aka the Oduma of the Universe, has again emphasised on the commitment of the transport corporation to continue to connect rural economics in Edo state to the towns, saying; “This is in consonance with the SHINE agenda of the Governor of Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

High Chief Okoinemen said this on, Saturday 14th February 2026, in Olinlin community of Uzea in Esan North East local government area of Edo state, at the commissioning of the ECTS terminal in Olinlin, Uzea.


Speaking further, the Chairman, ECTS Board of Directors, pointed out that the citing of ECTS terminal in  Uzea, will make it very easy for rural dwellers, who are mainly agrarians, to be able to transport their agricultural products, especially garri, yams and others to the urban cities like Ekpoma, Benin and others that was hitherto, a herculean task, saying, this will not only provide income for the rural dwellers, but will also substantially reduce the prizes of such products in the urban areas, adding that, the multiplier effect of it, will be glaring by the time ECTS extend same service to other rural areas in Edo state.


In an exclusive chat with Winning Media, High Chief Okoinemen said; “… If you take a critical look at this initiative, you will realise that it is in line with the SHINE agenda of His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo state.


Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Uzea community, Reverend Dr. Frank Ezele, who said the commissioning of the ECTS terminal in Uzea, is not just a commissioning but a turning point in the history of the kingdom, as Uzea community is commissioning connection, opportunity and accelerated development, also said; "... These terminal is more than a structure. It is access. It is economic empowerment. It is dignity for our rural people. It means our farmers can reach markets faster; our traders can expand their businesses. Our students can travel safely. Our people can now move directly from Uzea to Benin city with structure, order and reliability".


The Uzea community also appreciated Governor Monday Okpebholo for his remarkable strides in rural community development, saying; "...Okpebholo's leadership has proven that development must not remain in the cities alone as he has brought governance to the grassroots". 


Commending High Chief Okoinemen, the Chairman of ECTS Board of Directors, Rev. Dr. Ezele hailed him and other members of the management team of ECTS for translating policy into practical impact saying; "This terminal stands today as evidence of your visionary and inclusive leadership".


Finally, Dr. Ezele  appreciate it the sons and daughters of Olinlin Community for their sacrificial support, and also called on them to protect the ECTS terminal, patronise it, and use it responsibly, as Uzea is now connected, positioned and rising.
