Irrua Market To Relocate To Agric Junction, Akho-Irrua

With effect from Saturday 10th January 2026, Irrua Market in Eguare-Irrua, will temporarily relocate to Idumu-Eguare, Agric junction, opposite St. Anselm Catholic Church, Akho-Uromi road, Irrua.

The above development was disclosed to Winning Media, by the Chairman of Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Ainiyalenhimi Iyere, in an exclusive chat.


Speaking, the local government Boss who revealed that the temporary relocation of the market became expedient because the Eguare location has become choked up as a result of the ongoing construction of modern market buildings in the market.


He said; "... Our market men and women has been finding it very difficult to do their businesses the way they should, in our market in Eguare, as the space became choked up as a result of the ongoing construction of new market stores in the market".


"... This ongoing construction of market stores is the initiative, and project of our governor Senator Monday Okpebholo. I visited the market on Tuesday, during the last Irrua market day, and saw how inconvenient and uncomfortable our market women and men were, so I  immediately made the decision for the market to relocate pending the completion of the building of the new market stores in Eguare market. This is to ease the pains they are  currently going through".


Rt. Hon. Iyere who maintained that, though the construction of the market sheds are still ongoing, also concluded that with the passage of time, every other thing with respect to the new location of the market, will fall in place.


It will be recalled that as part of his promise to the people of Edo state, that;  "a new Edo state is rising", the old structures inside Eguare market Irrua, was demolished and the construction of modern market stores is currently ongoing in the market.
