Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Esan Central LG Boss, Hails Gallantry, Sacrifices Of Our Heroes

Today, 15th of January 2025, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Ainiyalenhimi Iyere, commended the gallantry and sacrifices made by our following and living heels in keeping the country safe and United.
Rt. Hon. Iyere made this commendation during the Armed Forces, celebration and remembrance day that held today at the local government council playfield in Irrua.
In his address, Rt. Hon. Iyere said; “ Today, we got out of the brief men and woman of our armed forces who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our nation. … we owe deep gratitude to those of them still alive for their courage.
The chairman also pointed out that the various insecurity challenges we have and are still facing as a nation that has claimed the lives of many security men and women subjected the families the Left behind to untold her ship and made them to depend on their family relatives for survivor. He there for used the opportunity to urge everyone to support the survivors by contributing generously to support the applies as government effort alone is not enough. The chairman launched the Armed forces emblem on behalf of the local government Council with a sum of two hundred thousand naira.
In an address, presented by Lieutenant Colonel Edward Okaka, Rtd, the Chairman, Nigeria Legion of Ex-Servicemen and Women, Esan Central Local Government area, he called Nigerians to sober reflection, saying; "...today, we remember those our brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the two World Wars: 1914 to 1915 to 1945 and the Nigeria Civil war of 1967 to 1970, as well as the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East and the recent peacekeeping missions all over the world".
Describing the soldiers that fought the wars as "fearless and selfless soldiers", he said, they sacrificed their precious lives to ensure peace, unity and stability in our country, Africa, and the world at large; adding that, their supreme sacrifice was in demonstration of their loyalty, love and patriotism for the father land, saying; "... the few surviving ones, out of God's love are either disabled or almost rendered useless to their families, while others who came home unscratched are faced with social ills..."
The Chairman of the Ex-servicemen Esan Central local government area Chapter, used the opportunity call on the Chairman of the local government to provide the Ex-servicemen with an office space to enable them coordinate their activities".
In his message titled: "What Will You Be Remembered For"?, delivered by Bishop Okojie, the General Overseer of Passion For Souls, in Akho, Irrua, emphasized that nothing in this world is permanent; and that, after we have departed this world, we are all remembered, either for the problem we caused or the solution we provided.
Highlight of the event, was Match Parade by the Ex-servicemen, laying of wreath in honour of our fallen heroes and Choir Ministrations by the Local Government Council Choir.
