Gov. Okpebholo To Score Another Political Goal In Osun
...as crisis in ACCORD deepens
By: Oriaifoh Godwins
Governor Monday Okpebholo, aka AKPAKOMIZA, the governor of Edo state, is at the verge of scoring yet, another Political Goal; this time, in The State of Osun, as Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate for the August 2026 Osun state gubernatorial election, as declared by Governor Okpebholo, who headed the APC Primary election in the state, may be coasting to victory, as the party, ACCORD, that the inccubent Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke is contesting on, is currently fronting two candidates, even as legal battles is tearing the party apart in the state.
The two candidates currently being named by opposing factions of the ACCORD, are Senator Ademola Adeleke, the inccubent Governor of the state, and yet another, Clement Bamigbola, who was announced by Olufemi Ogundare, the Chairman of the electoral Committee that conducted the primary where Clement Bamigbola emerged as the winner.
Recall that Governor Monday Okpebholo was the Chairman of the APC Primary election in Osun state, that held on the 13th of December 2025, and he declared Bola Oyebamiji, the winner, hence the APC candidate.
We may also recall that when Governor Monday Okpebholo contested in the primaries, during Edo state governorship election, in 2024, it was amidst tension, fracas, disunity and intra party crisis in Edo state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, when Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the then inccubent Governor of Edo state, was bent on imposing Asuelimen Ighodalo on the PDP. We should also recall that similar crisis was witnessed in Edo state PDP during the Edo central Senatorial election that eventually saw the emergence of Dr. Joe Ikpea, the APC candidate, as the winner.
In each of the aforementioned scenarios Governor Monday Okpebholo emerged victorious.
For example, he won and became the governor of Edo state. His candidate in Edo Central Senatorial district election, Dr. Joe Ikpea, won, and Ikpea is the Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District. Again, today, the APC candidate in the Osun state gubernatorial election, is gradually coasting to victory as the centre in ACCORD, is spelling doom for the inccubent Governor Adeleke, as AKPAKO-magic may again, play it's role in the outcome of the election, in favour of Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress candidate.
As events unfolds in the upcoming election of the state of Osun, one fact that is getting clearer by the day, to Political observers, is that, APC is getting closer to winning Osun State, especially bearing in mind that, Akpakomiza is involved.
