The Chairman, Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area of Edo state, has described the first year of Governor Monday Okpebholo, as; "one year of purposeful leadership".
Rt. Hon. Iyere made this remark yesterday, Wednesday, 12th November 2025, in an exclusive chat with Winning Media, while commenting on Governor Okpebholo's one year in office.
Speaking, the Esan Central Local Government Council Chairman said; "From the onset of his administration, His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo made clear his commitment to a people-centered agenda. He focused on practical solutions rather than lofty promises. He said it from the onset that, a new Edo state is rising; and I guess I don't need to talk too much on this, because the evidence of the rising of a new Edo state, can be seen everywhere".
Continuing, Hon. Iyere pointed out that, Governor Okpebholo's first year in office, has been defined by decisive actions in infrastructure renewal, agricultural revitalization, education, healthcare, and Market Women empowerment. Saying; "...the SHINE Agenda that I have personally keyed into, are the pillars upon which Edo state's long-term prosperity now stands".
Rt. Hon. Iyere said; "Under one year, Benin-Ekpoma road that had long been impassable is now arteries of commerce and connection; New drainage systems, renovated schools, and upgraded healthcare facilities bear testimony to a leader who listens and acts with urgency". What else do we look out for in a purposeful leader? He asked.
"Edo state now has a leader with a vision beyond politics".
Commenting on Transparency, Accountability, and People-Oriented Governing style of Governor Okpebholo, Rt. Hon. Iyere said; "In a political climate often marked by rhetorics, Governor Okpebholo has distinguished himself through quiet efficiency and transparent governance. His open-door policy, and responsiveness to citizens' feedback have redefined what it means to serve the people. Edo residents today speak of a government that listens, one that acts swiftly and effectively to meet real needs. His swift response to people's yearnings, led to the attention he gave to the flyovers under construction in Benin, it led to why he cracked down on cultism, kidnappings and other such crimes that hitherto, made life unbearable for many, it explains why he increased the subvention to Ambrose Alli University, why he gave over five thousand teachers a permanent employment status, why he reopened the college of Education Igueben, and many more".
"It Has Been One Year of Purposeful Leadership In Edo state. I celebrate Gov. Okpebholo’s Transformative Stewardship".
Concluding, Rt. Hon. Iyere said; "Edo state now has a leader with a vision beyond politics".
