The Chairman, Management Board, Edo City Transport Services, ECTS, High Chief Robert Okoinemen, has emphasised on the urgent need for the Agency to begin to generate revenue for Edo state government forthwith.

“At the inception of ECTS, when Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was the governor, customers, don’t make payments by cash, there was a payment system that was in place at that time, until that payment system was changed by the previous government. The rot, pilfering and sharp practices that hitherto, marred the efficiency of ECTS, hence, it's ability to generate revenue to the Government, cannot continue under my watch. Never".

Chief Okoinemen made this emphasis on Tuesday, 30th September 2025, in a chat with some media men in his office in Benin city.

Speaking, Chief Okoinemen said; “… it was a big surprise to me, when, on my assumption of office on the 2nd of September 2025, I discovered that Edo City Transport Services is not generating revenue to the government of the state, despite the huge sum of money that the Agency receives as subventions from the government, on a monthly basis”.

Continuing, Chief Okoinemen said; "...despite the fact that, ECTS has been receiving a whooping sum of money, from the state government on a monthly basis, the agency has been incurring huge and questionable overheads; but then, ECTS vehicles are making money from their operations. Something is seriously amiss here".

“…as I speak with you now, machineries are being put in place to ensure that all the leakages and loopholes are blocked. ECTS should not be reduced to a white elephant project”.

"On my first day in office, I went on an inspection tour of the premises and some of the facilities on ground. To my greatest surprise, I discovered that the whole place look unkept. Definitely, there are so many changes I need to put in place, that will enable me to present ECTS to the public as an agency worthy to do business with".

The Chairman, Management Board of Edo City Transport Services, ECTS, went on to reveal that, under his watch, ECTS must generate revenue to Edo State Government. "That is the only way I can justify the monthly subventions from the government". He said.
