Edo State Security Corps Restructuring C'tee Meets Esan Central LG Boss

Members of the Edo State Security Corps Restructuring Committee, including AVM Charles Oghomwen, Maj. Gen. Ebhaleme Charles, Rtd, and Brig. Gen. Greg Omoregbe, on Tuesday 22nd July 2025, visited the Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, Council to formally address the newly trained Edo state Security Corps members before assigning them to their various areas of assignment.
In a meeting with the Chairman, Esan Central Local Government Area Council, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Ainiyalenhimi Iyere, before addressing the Security Corps members, Brig. Gen. Greg. Omoregbe said; "...we are here today to formally address the Edo state Security Corps that were trained in various combat and survellance strategies".
"This new security structure, is different from what it used to be, because they will receive salaries for the task ahead, as such their job is strictly survellance and combating criminals, especially kidnappers and other related crimes; the use of this security corps members for any other purpose, will not be entertained".
Continuing, Brig. Gen. Omoregbe said, the use of members of the security corps by politicians and others, as body guards, and escorts are over; adding that, any of them found to be involved in such unacceptable services, as well as those that engage in doing some other security jobs elsewhere, will be dismissed from the service.
Also, Brig. Gen. Omoregbe pointed out that, activities of the security corps notwithstanding, the work of the local vigilantes can still go on unabated, but must be under the supervision of Edo state Security Corps so, they can work in synergy.
In his response, the Chairman, Esan Central Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Ainiyalenhimi Iyere,advised that, authorities at the grassroots know the Security Corps one-on-one, saying; "...we are the ones on ground, we know them and have even worked with some of them, and we know their capabilities. In view of this, we are in a better position to appoint those that will be their leaders, so as to ensure proper monitoring of the security outfit".
The Chairman, who commended the efforts of the Committee in restructuring the Edo state Security Corps, expressed his optimism in their ability to deliver according to their mandate.
After their meeting with Esan central Local Government Council Boss, they proceeded to the local government Secretariat Council Hall, to deliver same message to the members of Edo state Security Corps members that were assembled, waiting for their arrival.
CSP Richard Balogun, the Deputy Corps Commander, Operation, also accompanied the members of the committee to the local government area Council.
