Oshiomhole Hails Edo TMB,
...enumerates gov't efforts, calls for synergy.

Edo state Commissioner for Health, Doctor Cyril Oshiomhole, has commended the tradomedical practitioners in Edo state, including the traditional birth attendants, saying they have been doing a great job as health dispensers that are the closest to the people and also evidently cheaper for the common Man to access.
The Edo state Commissioner for Health, made this commendation on Tuesday, 3rd June 2025 at the stakeholders' meeting convened by Edo state Traditional Medicines Board, TMB, that held at the Festival Hall, Edo state Government House, Osadebey Avenue, Benin City.
Speaking, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole mentioned that, Edo state government has provided ultra scan machines to all Health centres in all the local government areas of Edo state, that training of Doctors and Nurses have been ongoing, and that, plans are underway to put structure on ground to mop up mentally challenged people that are roaming the streets.
Dr. Cyril Oshiomole urged practitioners to register with the government so that the government can recognize them as Tradomedical practitioners in Edo state; adding that, plans are underway to train tradomedical practitioners in Edo state on how to handle emergencies and when to refer cases to hospitals, saying, government will support research on herbal medicine.
Continuing the commissioner for health urged all the members of edo state traditional medicine practitioners to register their associations and different groups with the Ministry of Health, so that, should there be any serious problem, they should quickly report such for quick intervention.
The Edo state Commissioner for Health, however concluded by saying; ".. if modern medicines and our traditional medicine knowledge join bodi, na miracle go dey happen".
Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole thanked them for the work they are doing in the different Communities they reside, as they are the closest to the people at the grassroots.
Present at the Edo state Traditional Practitioners' stakeholders' meeting, are the Edo state Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, who was represented by Hon. Pius Alike, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Edo State Deputy Governor, the Chairman, Edo State Traditional Medicines Board, High Chief Abudu Ugbesia, JP, Prof. Matthew Izibili, who was the Guest lecturer, Dr. Chris Igene, who Moderated the interactive session, and a host of others.
