…don’t forget your promise to resuscitate Ibore water project

First and foremost, I want to specially thank and congratulate governor Monday Okpebholo, a.k.a. Akpakomiza, who have now been nicknamed Akpakorescue, for his sterling landmarks and achievements since he assumed office less than a year ago. I need not talk about this various people oriented interventions at this point, because they are very glaring in Edo state, and I pray that he sustain the tempo of work in this wise.

Governor Monday Okpebholo, during his electioneering campaign, way back in 2023\2024, narrated the story of how his only sister died as a result of drinking bad water; as such, he promised that if voted into power as governor of Edo state, water projects will be his priority, and today, he is the governor..

In faithfulness to his campaign promises Governor Okpebholo is executing a number of people oriented projects, not forgetting his promise to resuscitate the abandoned, destroyed and moribund water projects in Edo state, because he has started with the Ugboha water project .

Your excellency, the governor of Edo state sir, I want to use this opportunity to remind you that WATER IS LIFE. Even though I know how highly, you place water projects, I wish to remind you that the Pump House in Ibore-Irrua, that supplied water to the entire Esanland, up to some parts of Edo North, like Ozalla, Afuze and beyond is still there unattended to.

The water reservoir in Ivue, Esan North East local government area, that was the largest water reservoir in West Africa, is still there unused. There are several other water reservoirs lying across land, and some, as I write this reminder, have been taken over by bushes and some vandalised; just like equipment at the pump house in Ibore, have long ago, been Vandalised.

I wish to call on Governor Monday, Okpebholo to focus on repositioning the Ibore water project to the way it was in the 70s, and the 80s when people enjoyed clean tapwater across Esan land and beyond .

Professor Ambrose Alli of Blessed memory, made a good name when he was governor of the default Bendel state, by setting up Bendel State University, now Ambrose Alli university and today, years after his glorious exit from this world, he is still being remembered for this .

The resuscitating of the Ibore water project, as well as the Ojirami dam, in Edo North will go a long way in printing the name of his Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, on the sand of time, that generations yet unborn, will remember and continue to celebrate him for.
