The Chairman, Edo state Traditional Medicines Board, TMB, High Chief Dr. Abudu Ugbesia, JP, has emphasised that, in the practice and administration of Traditional Medicines on the people of Edo state, complete sanity will be restored, and all forms of quarkries will be eliminated from the system.
High Chief Ugbesia said this recently, in his office in Benin, while speaking with a team of newsmen, after giving certificate of practice of Traditional Medicines to some Tradomedical Practitioners.
Continuing, High Chief Ugbesia said; "...the Edo state Traditional Medicines Board is determined to sanitize the practice of Traditional Medicines in Edo state. We are fully aware that some quarks are everywhere making claims that they are incapable of substantiating, but we will get them, fish them out and make them to face the law".
"You cannot claim to be a traditional healer, and not be certificated by the Board. The certificate we issue to Practitioners, is a proof that we know them and they are authentic Tradomedical Practitioners in Edo state. All those that are practicing in hiding, will be fished out one after the other; as for me, human lives should not be toyed with, and the beauty of Medicines, is the restoration of the sick back to good health, not otherwise".
The Chairman, Edo state TMB, Traditional Dr. Abudu Ugbesia also revealed that, a Task Force has been set up across the state to identify all quarks parading themselves as traditional healers, and anyone caught practicing without a certificate to do so, will face the wrath of the law. "Enough of all those Baba Oshogbo, Baba Ijebu, Baba Oyo and others that are not known to the Board, and whose claims we cannot guarantee". Chief Ugbesia said.
