Funny Gale Of Defections From PDP To APC In Edo State.
By: Oriaifoh Godwins
Hahahahaha... recently, the people of Edo state woke up to see and hear a very interesting but funny news of the defection of a horde of hitherto, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwarts, including the Speaker, Edo state House of Assembly, EDHA, some former members of the House of Assembly, including Hon. Osadebamwen Asoro, Hon. Okhuarobo, Hon. Nosayaba Okunbor, the former PDP state Secretary, Hon. Fada Aigbiremolen, who represents Esan Central in Edo state House of Assembly, and a host of several others.
Hmmmm....defections from one Political party to another, is definitely not a new thing in this part of the world, so, these 'quality' defectors are warmly welcome back to the All Progressives Congress, APC, The APC Chieftains already welcomed them anyway.
Earnestly, I have no issues at all against their coming to join the APC, but before the end of this my traetise, I am sure some persons will be able to read between the lines, hence 'chop some sense'.
I can recall, with regretful nostalgia, when some of these people 'jakpa' to the PDP, with former governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Phillip Shuaibu . Hahahahaha...those were the days of: "Pepper Dem, Bolanle pepper dem oooo". I am sure many Edolites can still recall? Those were the days of the midnight inauguration of the members elect of EDHA, Those were the days when, even as the national Chairman of the APC, Oshiomhole was barred from coming to Edo state, without the permission from the then governor Obaseki. Those were the days of Edo Peoples Movement, EPM. Those were the days of....I can go in and on...
Today however, with the turning of the table, those same people that spat on the "Home they deserted, saying, they have found a new "home" under the Umbrella, have returned to the home they supported Obaseki to attempt to destroy. Isn't this funnily interesting?
I hate to remember how I suffered during those painful dark days, when Mr. Obaseki, with the help of these same defectors, made a complete mess of our so called Democracy. Yes, we are progressing; but I must point it out here that we are progressing in great error.
For those of us from Esan Central Local Government Area, I like to remind us that, during those dark horror filled days, at some point, our constituency was shut out of governance, as Rt. Hon. Edoror, who was voted into office to represent us in Edo state House of Assembly, EDHA, and Thirteen others, were disallowed by some lovers of darkness from representing their respective constituencies.
Also, during those dark days, the current Chairman of Esan Central Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Iyere who was then a Councilor representing Ward 4, of the local government, seeing the iniquities and inhuman behavior of the government of that time, opted out of the PDP to pitch tent with the APC. However, that his singular decision, landed him into several troubles. Today, that is History? Yes, of course, it is History today, but what does the Bible says about the soul that sinneth?
As those defecting to 'anywhere belle face, are being welcomed back to where they defecated on before, but now call Home, those that honestly ensure that the All Progressives Congress, stood solid, should watch their backs.
Even the writer once defected from PDP into APC.
ReplyDeletePot calling kettle black!
As long as the dividends of good governance get to the people, whatever vehicle/party that will guarantee inclusive and people-centric governance is welcomed.
