Okpebholo Wins Again:

…my billion dollars advice to Asuelimen Ighodalo, PDP

By: Oriaifoh Godwins

I write not as a politician, neither am I writing  as a tribal bigot, or as one under the influence of whatever sentiment, but I am writing as one that believes in natural law, and one that is looking at the political trajectory in Edo state with a second, and even a third eye. So, if you are not on same page with me, you will wrongly interpret my opinion.

Senator Monday Okpebholo, after the September 2024 Edo guber, was declared the winner, and subsequently sworn into office as the governor of Edo state, and ever since, Governor Okpebholo has been mending fences that were broken down by the erstwhile Governor Obaseki. Okpebholo has been providing some sort of enabling environment for Edo people to live and excel in their different fields of endeavor, Akpakomiza has been able to work his talk of ‘A New Edo State Rising’, through his palliative measures on road constructions. He has been able to put smiles on the faces of members of staff of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, that were summarily dismissed from the employment of the university. Kidnappers and cultists that hitherto, thrown Edo state into a place of tears and blood, got the clear message of: ‘It is no longer business as usual’.

With Governor Monday Okpebholo, alas Edo people now know what practical governance is all about, and they are glad that, this new sheriff in town is poised to restore the lost glory of the heartbeat of the nation.

It is a common phenomenon for losers in an election to cry foul. So, the foul cry of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Asuelimen Ighodalo, after their defeat in the 2024 Edo guber, is not a surprise to Edo people. However, the judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal, again, nailed the coffin of the complainants.

At this point, every objective minded person, should know that, ”Head or Tail, the odds are against Asuelimen Ighodalo and the PDP. Every objective minded person, can read between the lines that, the law of nature, has taken its course, and they should know too that just like the lawyers will say; “res ipsa loquiter”, the fact of the matter, speaks for itself. Asuelimen Ighodalo and the PDP, has reached their dead end and the sign board at the end of this road, reads: STOP! NO ROAD.

My write-up may sound proverbial to some, but like I said, at the beginning of it, “you must use your second and third eye to look at it”, otherwise, you will jump to a wrong conclusion.

Wait a minute; is it true that every injustice done to man will definitely be repaid, if not by man, definitely by God? Is it true that, governor Obaseki, that attempted to force Ighodalo on the people of Edo state, perpetuated a lot of injustice on some persons when he was in office?  I leave every reader with his/her conscience… But every reader must understand too that, every action has an equal and opposite reactions.

MY BILLION $ ADVISE

Practically speaking, when you are on a journey, and you see the signpost: “STOP! NO ROAD” the next thing for a wise traveller, is to take a U-turn, and return to where he/she was coming from. This is the position that Asuelimen Ighodalo, and the PDP are in today. It is now left for them to wisely take a U-turn, or continue on their goose chase, and hit the rocks.

Helloooo…. For those that are still urging Asuelimen Ighodalo on, have you noticed that, some of those that were in same boat with you, have since taken a U-turn, sensing that, this journey is a senseless one? Have you noticed that the conditions that overturned election results, hence removed the candidates that were earlier announced as the winners of an election, are not the same condition with Akpakomiza’s election? Have you noticed that the people of Edo state have since moved on, and are happy with the practical governance of governor Monday Okpebholo? Make una dey sleep oooo.

For me, Akpakomiza and APC victory, came the day Senator Okpebholo was declared winner. Obaseki and Ighodalo, has all along, been on a wild goose chase. If it is not yet clear to them that they have been wasting their time and resources, then it's a double tragedy for them.
