Chief Ugbesia Constitutes Edo Central Coordinators For Edo State Traditional Medicines Board

… Charge coordinators to support the new order.

The Chairman, Edo state Traditional Medicines Board, TMB, High Chief Dr. Abudu Ugbesia, JP, on Sunday 23rd March, 2025, constituted the coordinators for Edo Central Traditional Medicine Board, charging them to support the narrative of practical leadership as exemplified by Governor Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo state, saying, the Board has been moribund throughout the previous administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki, but Governor Okpebholo knowing the role traditional medicines can play in  complementing the efforts of Orthodox medicines, has decided to recognise it.

Continuing, Chief Ugbesia said; “so many things are wrong in the way traditional medicines administrations are practiced in Edo state, such that, many fake and uncultured practitioners have been, and are still giving tradomedical Practitioners bad name in Edo state; even within the very short time, of my appointment and resumption as the Chairman of the Board, I have received several complaints from some members of the public to this effect”.

“These anomalies that are giving us bad name, is what we must strive to correct.

“I cannot be in Benin City, at the same time be in Esan land and in Edo North. This is why I have carefully, selected you all to join me in delivering on this mandate of sanitizing the tradomedical environment in Edo state”. Chief Ugbesia concluded.

Those appointed as coordinators  of the different local governments in Edo Central include; Dr. John Ejeke Ogumeh, for Esan Central, High Chief Ebanehita Ekpen (JP), The Ekpen of Igueben, as Coordinator of Igueben LGA, Chief Dr. Ojuro Ebhodaghe, as Coordinator, Esan North East, Chief Dr. Abu Tunde Ominimini (JP) as coordinator Esan West and Dr. Oboizokpe Felix, for Esan South East Local Government Area.

Also present at the meeting, are Chief Priest Dr. Akhere Edehomo JP, of Esan West, High Chief Agbor Edenokun I of Esan South East, amongst others.

Chief Dr. Ugbesia also announced that the inauguration of all the eighteen local Government coordinators for the Tradomedical Medicines Board, in Edo state will be announced after all the coordinators for Edo North and Edo South have been identified.

Highlight of the meeting, was the presentation of a souvenir of the portrait of Chief Abudu Ugbesia, by Chief Priest Dr. Akhere Edehomo, JP to the Chairman, Edo state Traditional Medicines Board.
