Operation Clean Up Irrua, Esan Central, Underway

Yesterday, Friday 14th February 2025, the Chairman, Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area, Edo state, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Ainiyelenhimi Iyere, paid an unscheduled working visit to Irrua Market, in Eguare Irrua, to access the level of compliance with the management of refuse in the market.
While in the market, the Chairman discovered that, a place that was originally built as a store, has been converted to a waste dump site. There and then, the Chairman ordered for machineries to be put in place to begin a weekly environmental sanitation exercise to ensure a regular cleanup in the market. According to the Chairman, this sanitation exercise, will also be observed in the entire local government area.
Speaking with Winning Media Online, the Chairman, who is now commonly referred to, as the 'uncommon Chairman', said; "...we will continue to take the lead in all areas, including cleanliness, which of course, is next to Godliness. The Governor of Edo state, Senator Governor Monday Okpebholo, hails from this local government; in light of this, we must continue to take the lead.

"You will recall that, on my assumption of office, I ensured that the heap of refuse dump in this market, was evacuated, and that was just last month, and again, the refuse is gradually accumulating. For me, this is completely unacceptable".
The Chairman, who went on to stress on the implications of noncompliance with the planned weekly environmental sanitation exercise, also pleaded with the people of Esan Central to fully comply with it, saying; "this is one of the ways to keep sicknesses at bay". He however, promised that the heap of refuse dump in the supposed open stall, will soon be evacuated.
