Speaking, with Winning Media Online, the Chairman, Rt. Hon Iyere said; this is definitely not our best in Edo state. What they have been telling us about 'Edo best', is a big scam.
“How on earth are pupils able to study in these classrooms? I am even made to understand that the chairs in the only block standing here, were provided by the community. If you look around, there is no functional toilet facility in this school premises.
“Definitely, this is not Edo best, and it is completely unacceptable. The buildings in this school premises can be best described as an eyesore".The Chairman said.
The Chairman, who is visibly surprised at the state of the school buildings, expressed his disappointment over the way Edo people in the past eight years, have been deceived by a few cosmetic primary school projects that were showcased to deceive the whole world, while a great number of several schools suffered in silence.
Also with the Chairman on the inspection tour, is Hon. Izidu Saturday, the Councilor representing Ward 2 in Esan Central Local Government Council, who is also the Deputy Leader of the House. In his words, Hon. Izidu said; “the school has been in this sorry state for five years now, and we thank God that it is just about receiving the needed attention. All thanks to the Chairman for his intervention.
"Moreso, we must be reminded that this Ward is where the Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo hails from; we therefore have no choice other than show good examples for other local government areas in the state to follow.
The Head of department for works, Engineer Ebozei who also accompanied the Chairman on the inspection tour, was seen taking measurements of the dilapidated buildings with the aim of setting in motion the process of renovation of the school block of classrooms.
It will be recalled that, earlier today, Rt. Hon. Iyere was in Usugbenu road to personally oversee the evacuation of the drainage system by the road that had accumulated a heap of debris.
