Edo State Governor Tasks NURTW To Promote Peace, Progress Of Edo State

The Governor of Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo has charged the members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Edo state chapter, to promote the peace and progress of Edo state, and also ensure that, under its new leadership, no man is oppressed. 

Governor Monday Okpebholo, represented by Barr. Musa Ikhilor Esq. the Secretary to Edo State Government, SSG, said this yesterday while addressing the members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Edo state chapter at the government House. 


Speaking, the governor, who thanked the members of the union for the support they gave him during the 2024 Edo state gubernatorial election, also hailed the union for catering for the needs of the ordinary people. 


He said; "...on behalf of the executive Governor of Edo State, I want to thank the leadership and members of this union for your support during the 2024 Governorship election. 


" This is a government for the people, and we recognize the fact that, National Union of Road Transport Workers, is for the ordinary people, and it is in this light that we want to support you in your activities and ensure that you maintain peace and progress in Edo state. 


"We take this union seriously, because it caters for the needs of the common man. We are happy with the leadership of National Union of Road Transport Workers at the national level, and we trust that this leadership will replicate same in Edo state". 


Continuing, the governor who mentioned that, just as the leadership of the market women association are doing everything possible to ensure that the common man is not exploited in the market, so also should the National Union of Road Transport Workers support his administration to ensure that, no man is oppressed, as contained in the national anthem. 


The newly elected Chairman of Edo state chapter of the union, Comrade Saturday Oamen, as well as other members of the executives were inaugurated by the national President of the union, Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo. 


The executive members of the Edo state chapter of the NURTW, that were all returned unopposed and were also inaugurated with Edo state chairman of the body, include Julius Agbonze the Vice Chairman, Godwin Aghimien, Secretary, Osaretin Igbinoghene, Treasurer, Brimoh Salami, State Trustee 1, Osasu Eke, Organising Secretary, Abiodun Ayonite, First Vice, Samson Ojeawere, Second Vice and Henry Omagbon, Third vice. 

Others include, Godwin Ugiagbe, Financial Secretary, Godspower Ogbomon, Assistant Secretary, Nosa Aideyan, State Auditor, Zakawanu Garuba, Assistant Auditor, Peter Iyase, State Trustee II, David Ojo, Assistant Treasurer and John Imafidon State Trustee III.
