A foremost contender for the 2024  governorship position in Edo State, Ambassador (Dr) Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi, has posited  that, Nigeria no doubt, is a highly blessed country in terms human, material and natural resources,  but that our main challenge is   a flawed leadership selection process.

Ambassador Uhomoibhi made this assertion in Benin recently, while responding to questions from Journalists on the state of our nation.

According to him, governance is not a rocket science, it depends on the understanding of those in government that leadership is about service, humility, responsibility, character and integrity.

Ambassador Uhomoibhi said; '...the Nigeria that I grew up in, is not the Nigeria I am seeing today, we have been turned to Internally Displaced People, IDP, even in our country'.

Continuing, he said; '...I am not blaming any particular government, political party, individual or group on this, but look at the Edo state that we all grew up in, look at the Nigeria we all grew up in, it is no longer what it used to be...'

'I am an Historian; I have taught and I am still teaching Nigeria History, I live Nigeria History, I defend Nigeria History and known by Nigeria History and I have come to realize that the missing link that we need, to make Nigeria what she really is, is the right leadership.'

Ambassador Uhomoibhi, who said, good governance and dividends of democracy that will become lasting legacies for the people of the state, are key to him, added that, his gubernatorial aspiration, is purpose driven, and that purpose, he added, is to deliver selfless service to the people of Edo state.

Ambassador Dr. Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi (OFR) is a distinguished

Nigerian diplomat, administrator, public servant and statesman. A first class

foreign service officer, who is best known for his exploits at the highest levels of

international politics, on behalf of his country, and global humanity in general.
