Management of University System, Is Not For Street Boys -Professor Aluede
By: Oriaifoh Godwins
Professor Raymond Aluede, a Professor of 22 years standing, a former Dean of the Faculty of Education, and a former Dean of School of Postgraduate Studies, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, said; "...those who belong to the streets should be restricted to and left to remain in the streets, as the management of the University system, is not meant for street boys".
Professor Aluede, who added that it is not out of place for the Visitor to a University to appoint a body to oversee the affairs of the University, added that; "those that must be appointed should be responsible people of sound minds. They should be people with University management experience".
Prof. Aluede said this while commenting on the protest that took place at the AAU, Ekpoma gate on February 21 2023.
Speaking, Professor Aluede stated that street result is what will eventually be achieved, if such aberation is committed. This is especially bearing in mind that one Mr. Osakwue, a member of the Special Intervention Team, SIT, had earlier, on the 12th of January, during the Town Hall meeting with the University Community, boasted that he, Osakwue, was the head of the street boys.
Professor Aluede, said; “…those who belong to the streets should be allowed to remain in the streets, not in the academic environment”.
Professor Aluede who said that the Visitor to the University, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, should not be interested in hearing only the story from the SIT side, but should also ask questions from independent people to know exactly what was going on in AAU, further stated that the non-payment of staff salaries, was as a result of the misinformation that the management of the University fed the Visitor with.
The inefficiency of the AAU management, according to Professor Aluede, has resulted to the extreme sufferings of workers: “…innocent people are suffering for sins committed by those that are close to people in authority. The reports earlier submitted to the governor on happenings in AAU, were not acted upon".
For twelve months and more, the Professor said, himself and many other innocent staff of Ambrose Alli University are not paid salaries. With this development, he said, "the incumbent Edo State government is heaping up debts for the incoming government", he concluded.
