Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Meets With Chairman, Esan Central

The members of executive of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, NUP, Esan Central chapter, today, Monday, 17th February 2025 formally met with the Chairman, Esan Central local government area of Edo state, on a familiarisation visit.

Speaking, Comrade Alex Irabor, the Chairman of the union, who introduced all the members of executive present, to the Chairman, also informed the Chairman that their visit has become very necessary, so as to inform the Chairman of their presence and activities in Esan Central local government area. 


Continuing, Comrade Irabor said; "we are the executive members of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Esan Central chapter. We are responsible for caring for the welfare of our members, some of who are challenged by one sickness or the other.


"The challenges of our members, ranges from sicknesses, non payment of our gratuities, and funds to move from place to place on visitations to our seriously health challenged members".


Comrade Irabor, the Chairman of the union, who informed the Chairman, Esan Central local government area that, the last time they went for a meeting at the state level, they were advised to visit the Chairmen of their respective local government areas to inform the Chairmen of their challenges, especially now that the Local Government councils, have now been granted autonomy, also added that, the Chairman of Esan Central local government area, should not hesitate to call on them anytime they are needed to play any supporting role.


The members of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, who used the opportunity to inform the Chairman, that they need a piece of land on which to build their Secretariat, and monthly imprest to manage the activities of the union, also informed the Chairman that the national convention of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, will be coming up in April, 2024, saying they will be sending representatives to Abuja to attend the Congress, as such, will need some financial support from the local government to enable them participate.

Responding, the Chairman, Esan Central local government area, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Iyere Ainiyelenhimi, promised to look into all the challenges facing the Union of Pensioners, with the aim of tackling it, but within the available resources.

Other members of executive that were also present, include; Comrade Isabana P.E, the Vice Chairman, Comrade Aigbomian A.I, Secretary, Comrade Eigbe E. O, Treasurer, Comrade Oigbochie Felix, Auditor and Comrade Omokhobhio Sylvester, Trustee. Others include; Eghelen S.A, Eromosele P.A, Oyakhilomen Samuel, Oribhabor Victor, Aigbomian Kennedy, Ikhisuemogua V.I and Odibou C. O all Ex-officio.
