"O, beware, my lord, of jealousy; It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock The meat it feeds on" - William Shakespeare
That famous quote of the great poet and playwright, William Shakespeare explains what's happening in the race for the upcoming Edo Central Senatorial bye-election as it relates to Hon. Odi Okojie and the other contenders.
Hon. Odi Okojie has been the subject of attack from every bend of the political sphere in the senatorial district.
The reasons for this are not far fetched, as he posseses all the qualities required to win the contest almost effortlessly and going by feed back from our Esan people who are exponents of fairness, equity and whose political choice are always skewed in the direction of performance, and are saying that he's the best among the plethora of politicians across the political divide aspiring for the position.
Hon. Odi Okojie, who's presently the member representing Esan South-East/Esan North-East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, is presently discharging the functions of that office in the most credible manner. His representation thus far has been very robust, persuasive and effective. This is why he has attracted a lot of projects to his federal constituency within the 20 months he's been in the green chambers.
At the national level, he has used his chairmanship of the House Committee on Petroleum, Downstream to facilitate the operationalization of the Dangote Refinery, the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt and Warri Refineries; which are working now and gradually reducing the prices of petroleum products.
Members of the national caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have taken note of his performance thus far. Members of the organised private sector who have seen his contributions in the revival of local refineries are also praying that his Esan people allow him to go to the Senate so he can replicate what he's doing in the House of Representatives in the red chambers of the National Assembly.
This is why jealousy is trailing him and like Shakespeare said, the jealousy is tormenting and sinking those manufacturing all manner of political inanities that are unselabe to Esan electorates.
In the opening quote from Othelo, Shakespeare was poetically imagining a cat, most likely a lion; (known for its giant green eyes), delighting in tormenting (mocking) its victim (meat) before devouring it. This picture gives a vivid interpretation of jealousy, tormenting the mind of the jealous man with a barrage of suspicions before it consumes him completely.
That's why we're appealing to the Edo Central Senatorial caucus of APC to nominate Hon. Odi Okojie as candidate of the party in the senatorial bye-election to enable him win the position for his party, fly its flag higher and take Esan land to new heights.
Support, nominate and vote Hon. Odi Okojie for Senate, Edo Central Senatorial District.
