Ex-President Goodluck Ebelle Jonathan, is a man that saw tommorow, several years ago, hence he set up a Non Governmental Organisation, NGO, to solve today and tomorrow's problems in Education and leadership, hence development of our economies in Nigeria and Africa in general.

The above opinion was expressed by Ambassador Prof Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi, OFR, a former United Nations Undersecretary General, in Benin city, Edo state, after the event of the Goodluck Jonathan Democracy Day Dialogue that held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub and Sound Stage, Benin city, Edo state,on Thursday, 13th June 2024.

In an exclusive chat with Winning Media, Ambassador Prof. Uhomoibhi said; "...the Ex-President, Goodluck Ebelle Jonathan, is a man that saw tommorow, even many years ago when he was the  President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria..."

"...the theme of this year's Goodluck Jonathan Foundation Democracy Day Dialogue, which is Functional Education and Effective Political Leadership As A Panacea to Africa's Growth and Development, is the right topic for discussion, especially now that Africa, and particularly Nigeria is in dire need of the right leaders that can reposition our country and the continent..."

Amb. Uhomoibhi, who is the longest serving Permanent Secretary, in the history of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has always emphasized on the need for Nigeria to take the issue of who leads the country seriously; he again reemphasized that, our flawed Political leadership selection process, has been largely responsible for the emergence of the wrong characters in leadership positions.

Uhomoibhi said; "Just like the topic depicts, the direct correlation between functional education and effective leadership, in whatever area, be it Political, Traditional or Religious leaderships, cannot be overemphasized..."

"...this topic of discussion, is germaine, and has come at the right time". Ambassador Uhomoibhi concluded.

Amb. Prof. Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi, was a United Nations Undersecretary General in Dafur, Sudan, and the longest serving Permanent Secretary in the history of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Professor Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi, OFR, was a governorship aspirant under the auspices of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2024 Edo gubernatorial election.
